The Path to a Successful Fleet

The statement that company car fleets can be expensive to operate will surprise few people. What is surprising is how infrequently many companies review their policy. Clients then come to see us hoping that we can provide a quick fix.Unfortunately this is very rarely possible.

The fleet manager has to consider cash flow, finance, tax, VAT, health and safety, cash alternatives etc.

We have found that the sensible way to review vehicle fleets is to follow a template. The following steps that we use can hopefully help you with your own fleet.

Step Objective

1 Establish the Current Costs of Running the Fleet
2 Review The Funding Policy
3 Split the Drivers into Manageable Groups
4 Decide Who Should Get a Cash Alternative
5 Cash or Mileage Rates?
6 Calculate the Cash Option
7 Write or Amend the Car Policy and Implement the New Scheme
